Moving Healthcare was established in 2020 to cater for the ever-expanding need for home-based Allied Health Services and a genuine love for helping people achieve their goals.

We are a specialist provider of home-based Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to Metropolitan Melbourne.

We cater to a wide range of patient needs at all stages of the lifespan, with a particular interest in the management of those living with a disability, neurological conditions, post-operative rehabilitation and aged care.

We adopt safe, effective, evidence-based interventions to maximise independence in individuals with compomised function that results from primary pathological processes and resultant impairments.

We help you overcome barriers that may be hindering your function as a result of musculoskeletal and neurological diseases or injuries, such as fractures or strokes.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Gabriella Schiftan

Managing Director | Principal Physiotherapist

Gabriella graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy Practice in 2013.

She has cultivated a broad physiotherapy skill and knowledge base from her extensive experience working across a variety of different healthcare settings – in the home-based community space, Acute Hospitals, Private Practice, Clinical Pilates, as well as Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation Hospital Departments. She has managed patients presenting with a range of complex Neurological, Cardiorespiratory and Musculoskeletal conditions.

Of all her experience, Gabriella has always felt particularly drawn to working in the community home-based setting. She loves the personal and rewarding nature of working in this environment and the truly functional and tangible results that can be achieved.

Gabriella herself loves to move and is an avid participant in a range of sports. She feels passionate about enabling others to do the same and to move peoples’ lives in the direction they desire. She has an excellent understanding of the barriers that can challenge one’s ability for optimal movement and knows the best way of overcoming these in order to maximise your function.

Bronwyn Mayo

Physiotherapist

Graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2011, Bronwyn has enjoyed a diverse and rewarding physiotherapy career spanning private practice and community health settings across both Australia and the UK. She brings over a decade of experience helping people move better, recover from injury, and live active, happy lives.

With a practical, person-centred approach, Bronwyn focuses on truly listening to her clients and understanding what matters most to them. She works collaboratively to develop tailored rehabilitation plans that fit each individual’s goals, lifestyle, and abilities. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, or navigating the challenges of ageing or disability, Bronwyn is committed to supporting you every step of the way with empathy, encouragement, and evidence-based care.

As a busy mum of three young kis, Bronwyn understands the importance of staying strong and mobile at every stage of life. She enjoys running, playing netball, keeping fit, and passionately supports her beloved AFL team, the mighty Hawks.

With her warm, approachable manner, Bronwyn is passionate about supporting people to move confidently, build strength, and enjoy a full and active life, regardless of age or ability.

Joel Ow

Physiotherapist

Born in Singapore and raised in Perth, Joel moved to Melbourne to earn his Doctor of Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne in 2018 (with distinction!) and to soak up everything the city offers in food, sport, and culture.

Joel is that rare kind of physio who’s equally comfortable supporting someone in their own home after surgery, working on the wards with complex medical teams, or helping athletes get back on the field. With experience across hospitals, private practice, aged care, community, and sporting environments, Joel has built a reputation for being adaptable, approachable, and deeply committed to client care. He’s an all-rounder in the best sense, able to confidently support a wide variety of clients and conditions, much like a trusted GP who can handle anything that walks through the door.

He’s especially skilled in working with older adults, people with disabilities, and those navigating recovery after injury or surgery. Fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, Joel prides himself on making physi accessible, relevant, and enjoyable for everyone he works with.

Outside of work, Joel is a genuine sports nut. You’ll find him playing golf, basketball, badminton, tennis, and bouldering. He’s also into photography, exploring new places to eat, and spending time outdoors.

Shachi Desai

Physiotherapist

Shachi is a highly experienced physiotherapist with a Master of Applied Science in Clinical Exercise Practice (Rehabilitation) and over seven years of clinical practice complemented by nearly a decade in non-clinical rehabilitation and injury management roles. She brings a unique blend of hands-on physiotherapy expertise and deep insight into workplace health, safety, and recovery.

Known for her calm, empathetic, and evidence-based approach, Shachi has worked across private practice, aged care, and community settings, supporting people after surgery, managing chronic conditions, and helping clients regain independence at their own pace. Her background in occupational and vocational rehabilitation has strengthened her ability to keep people moving safely at home, at work, and in life.

She’s particularly skilled in developing personalised exercise and injury prevention programs, using movement, education, and clear communication to make physiotherapy motivating and accessible. Clients appreciate her ability to blend professionalism with genuine care, helping them feel confident and supported throughout their recovery journey.

Outside of work, Shachi enjoys Pilates, yoga, and travelling, and volunteers with FareShare Australia, a meal relief charity that reflects her strong sense of community and compassion.

Emma O'Brien

At the heart of Emma’s practice as an Occupational Therapist is a commitment to empowering individuals living with physical disabilities. With a Bachelor in Occupational Therapy achieved in 2018, Emma works within contemporary, person-centered frameworks that prioritize the lived experience of disability. Her approach is rooted in respect, collaboration, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by adults with physical disabilities.

Emma partners with each client to understand their personal goals and challenges, developing tailored strategies to achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes. Whether it’s regaining independence in daily activities, improving mobility, or adapting to life changes, her focus is on supporting you to reach your full potential.

Kim Trusler

Occupational Therapist

Kimberly is an experienced Occupational Therapist who brings warmth, professionalism, and an impressive depth of clinical expertise to her work. Based in Preston, she’s passionate about helping adults living with physical and neurological conditions regain independence and confidence in their daily lives.

With nearly a decade of experience across community and aged care settings, Kimberly has worked extensively with people supported under NDIS, My Aged Care, and TAC. Her background includes leading occupational therapy teams, providing clinical supervision, and managing complex caseloads involving conditions such as spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, and amputations.

Kimberly is highly skilled in functional and environmental assessments, seating and MAT evaluations, assistive technology prescription, and both minor and complex home modifications. Her reports are known for being detailed, clear, and person-centred, always with the goal of improving quality of life and practical independence.

When she’s not working with clients, Kimberly enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring Melbourne’s best coffee spots, and soaking up the outdoors.

Micole Goh

Micole is an experienced Community Occupational Therapist based in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Bachelor in Occupational Therapy in 2015. With a focus on adults clients, she is dedicated to enhancing their functional capacity and overall well-being through comprehensive assessment and tailored intervention services. Micole holds extensive experience having worked with diverse populations and settings such as in accute and subacute hospitals, clinics and in-home care. Her passion for helping individuals maximise their independence and quality of life drives her commitment to providing quality care and support.

As a bilingual therapist fluent in both English and Mandarin, Micole offers enhanced accesibility and cultural competence to clients from diverse backgrounds. Micole’s mission as an Occupational Therapist is to empower her clients to overcome obstacles and thrive in their daily lives.

During her free time, Micole enjoys cooking and baking, and being a participant of spin/cycle classes at the gym.

Nicole Dwyer

Nicole’s journey into occupational therapy began with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from Monash University in 2009, driven by her passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives and a desire to problem solve creatively to help individuals improve their independence and achieve their goals.

With over fourteen years of clinical experience across acute, subacute, and community care settings, Nicole excels in prescribing assistive technology, home modifications, managing symptoms, and providing individually tailored interventions that respect individuality and diversity. Her approach focuses on building trusting relationships and empowering clients and families.

Committed to continuous professional development, Nicole is currently advancing her expertise through an Improvement Advisor course with Safer Care Victoria and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. This dedication underscores her commitment to enhancing health outcomes and delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends, open water swimming, and exploring new travel destinations.

Nimaya Wasala

Occupational Therapist

Nimaya is an Occupational Therapist with a passion for supporting individuals living with moderate to severe mental health conditions. Trained in New Zealand, she’s spent her career working across the full spectrum of mental health services, from high-pressure acute units to long-term community-based care. 

Her approach is grounded in empathy, evidence-based practice, and a deep respect for each person’s journey. Nimaya has extensive experience using a range of therapeutic modalities including DBT, CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She values meaningful engagement and daily routines as powerful tools for recovery and resilience, and believes therapy should feel both practical and empowering. 

Nimaya enjoys working with people aged 12 to 60 and brings particular expertise in supporting clients with complex mental health presentations such as BPD, bipolar disorder, major depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. She also works confidently with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and autism, and has experience conducting Functional Capacity Assessments for the NDIS. 

Outside of work, you’ll often find Nimaya in the air practising aerial arts, or at home curled up with a book and her wise cat by her side.

Zoe Lucas

Occupational Therapist

Zoe is an Occupational Therapist with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) from Monash University (2018) and a Master of Public Health from Deakin University (2024). She has experience working across acute, subacute, and community settings, supporting individuals with a wide range of conditions and clinical presentations, including mental health. Zoe has a special interest in working with adults and older people, and is particularly passionate about supporting ageing in place.

Zoe is passionate about promoting participation, independence, and enabling people to live meaningful, lives. She is committed to delivering care that recognises the lived experience of disability, and works collaboratively with each person to support their goals and improve their engagement in everyday activities.

Her therapeutic style blends a casual, personable approach with a strong clinical foundation. Zoe takes the time to build genuine rapport with her clients, understanding not just their functional needs, but their identity, preferences, and priorities. She believes effective Occupational Therapy must be tailored to the individual and grounded in respect, empathy, and evidence.

Outside of work, Zoe enjoys travelling around Australia with her family, cooking new recipes, and staying active at the gym.
